When I was setting up my tour of resorts and retreats to include with my re-launch, I was fortunate enough to have been told by my friend and fellow resort owner, Mark, about a lovely little spot right in the middle of 7 Mile Beach: Blue Skies Beach Resort.
I checked the resort out on line and just loved the rooms. They weren't basic, they had style and they just looked like what I'd love to stay in. Fast forward- I was not disappointed. Not at all. In fact, the bed was the most comfortable I had experienced in any of my travels. I sunk into it, and immediately thought to beg to stay longer. The room was large, color scheme perfect for a seaside, without being an over the top, "token" beach look. In fact, one room had an aviation theme, which was unexpected and looked great. The retreat isn't huge. It's intimate, meticulously maintained, has an exclusive feel to it, and is a legit gem.
The restaurant and bar area, as well as the party deck, were situated between the rooms and the water, and were an open style arrangement. It just worked. You could sit in covered, cooled comfort, yet be at one with the edge of the ocean, the beach, and the sun and sunsets. The food, provided by 7 Restaurant on 7 Mile, was second to none. I saw lobsters and steaks being served that looked just divine. my selection was a chef created salad, made from the freshest produce and seafood available. Delish.
Walk off that meal with a stroll down the beach. You'll find music, food, shopping, and a host of very, very interesting, and quite awesome, locals. Parties happen along the beach most every evening, and Blue Skies throws some of the best themselves.
Hang out at the beach bar cabana. With drink in hand, you can sit on a swing right next to the ocean and rock along with the little waves as they kiss the shore. Wave to the occasional character, grab a photo, rinse and repeat.
Those who wish to enjoy better cannabis than what you'll find everywhere can make a purchase right from the resort. Interested in mushrooms? Combine a nice morning tea with a seaside yoga session for the perfect Caribbean moment, or go all-in and enjoy your day laying by the ocean or wandering the beach. It's all good- you're in Negril, and everything's Irie.
